What is Alkaline Water? Firstly, we must understand what pH is. Simply, pH is a method to measure the acid/alkaline value of a given substance.
Alkaline water is water with a pH higher than 7. The pH scale ranges from 0 (highest acidic) to 14 (most alkaline). A pH of 7 is neutral.
Why drink Alkaline Water?
When we are healthy, our blood pH is 7.365, spinal fluid pH is 7.4 and saliva pH is 7.4.
It has been determined that an alkaline body is more conducive to health and well-being than an acidic one. An undesirable pH can lead to a variety of negative health effects.
A body that tends towards acidic heightens the risk of infections from bacteria, yeast, parasites and viruses. All these seek out and thrive in an acidic environment.
Typical symptoms of acidic blood can include:

Due to our modern lifestyles and consumption of meats, dairy products, coffee & processed sugars, acidic ash is created in the body. Also, more and more people are turning to water in plastic bottles. What is not generally realised is that most bottled water is highly acidic and missing the essential alkalising minerals.
Some experts go even further to suggest that an alkaline body might not allow degenerative diseases including cancer cells to form as readily in an acidic body. The process of re-establishing an acid-alkaline balance begins with building a proper diet and nutrition into a daily lifestyle.
There are differing opinions about optimum pH, and this is just one of them. Nevertheless, there is a strong and growing acceptance that we are; in general, over acidic and that excess acidity is the root cause of many of the so-called “aging diseases”.
